Bulk billed for eligible Medicare card holders. Medicare generally covers a comprehensive eye test every three years if you are under 65 and every 12 months from age 65. Other Medicare-covered visits may be available when clinically necessary and the MBS requirements are met. We can check this for you when you book.
How health funds pay for glasses
Funds pay towards glasses and contact lenses from your extras cover. They tend to work in one of three ways.
Up to a yearly limit
Many funds pay up to an annual optical limit per person. You can claim that limit at any recognised optometrist.
A set amount per item
Some funds pay a set amount for each item, such as a pair of single vision glasses, depending on your cover.
A percentage
Some funds pay a percentage, up to your annual limit.
Claim on the spot
Claim on the spot through HICAPS with most health funds. Bring your fund card.
When limits reset
Many funds reset optical limits on 1 January, so unused benefits may not carry over. Some reset on 1 July. Check your own policy.
Your own cover decides what your fund pays.

Do I get a copy of my prescription?
Yes. Your prescription is yours. We give you a copy at the end of your exam, and you are welcome to buy glasses anywhere.
